Koert Vermeulen

Koert Vermeulen, Founder and Principal Designer of ACTLD, is a Belgium based lighting and visual designer who creates lighting, set, video and content designs for public experiences worldwide. Since 1995, his work has broadened from entertainment and architectural lighting design for retail projects, city master plans, heritage sites and exhibitions to experience and immersive environments.

Koert’s ongoing collaboration with Balich Wonder Studio has solidified his position as a world-class lighting designer for large scale events and special projects, including the 89th Saudi Arabia National Day Celebrations and the illustrious visual scenography for the iconic Tree of Life installation at EXPO 2015 in Milan. In addition, Koert has worked together with Puy du Fou for more than nine years, from lighting the Cinéscénie in France to the brand new El Sueño de Toledo super-production in Spain. Other distinguished projects of his include the art piece Star in Motion in Riyadh, the multimedia installation at the National Airport in Brussels, the lighting for the Erasmus Bridge in Rotterdam and the immersive installation IMX inside Zeleno Park in Moscow.
