For the fourth consecutive year, the historic city of Bruges is illuminating the winter season with its enchanting light experience, Wintergloed. This glowing spectacle takes place from November 25 until January 8, 2023, transforming the city into a radiant wonderland.
The event is a showcase of brilliance that artfully combines the rich history and progressive presence of Bruges. The organizers have intentionally designed a shorter, yet still captivating route this year, prioritizing accessibility so that everyone can partake in the magical journey. The heart of this year’s Wintergloed is the BMCC and Albert I parc, a pivot around which spellbinding light installations revolve, making it the epicenter of this winter’s celebration.
Despite the focus on a more concentrated area, the walk is nothing short of diverse and invigorating. It cleverly incorporates the dynamic city core and emphasizes nature, featuring the freshly landscaped King Albert I Park and the lush gardens of the Sint-Godelieve abbey. Additionally, it accentuates the serene beauty of water with installations at Minnewater and along the banks at Capucijnenrei.
Architecture enthusiasts will not be disappointed, as Wintergloed shines a spotlight on new landmark structures such as the BMCC—a beacon of modern design in the historical city. Together, these elements create a tapestry of experiences that harmoniously blend nature, water, and innovative architecture.
